We turn institutional ambition into a strategy a Council will back.
Strategy and growth for universities and the public-purpose institutions that shape civic life. Transnational education, precinct development, innovation-ecosystem design and partnership architecture. From the first diagnostic through to the Council paper.
The approach
Every engagement begins with a diagnostic, not a template.
We start by naming the forces actually in play, then test the options against the institution's own long horizon rather than the sector's. Our Governance Tension Framework puts trust at the centre and reads the pull of the external environment, community voice and best practice. The Twenty-Year Horizon asks what the institution exists to make true in the world by 2046. Only then do we write the strategy, and we carry it through to the document that goes to Council.
What we work on
We work across the moves that decide an institution's next decade.
- Transnational education. Market reading, partnership options and the governance and ownership models that decide which one holds.
- Precinct development. Environment and opportunity scans for institutions planning community and innovation precincts.
- Innovation-ecosystem design. The architecture that connects research, industry and place into something that compounds.
- Partnership architecture. Operating models, decision rights and shared ways of working for multi-partner ventures.
Recent work
We have built the case for joint initiatives, research centres and federated models.
A selection of recent engagements, described without naming the institutions.
A university–Commonwealth joint initiative
Wrote the strategic renewal and growth strategy for an institute founded as a joint initiative between a university and the whole of the Commonwealth Government, mapping its current state, the constraints on it, and a path to growth.
A new national research centre
Made the strategic and partnership case for a new national research centre on social policy, aligning several universities behind one shared agenda.
A federated institutes operating model
Designed the operating model that brings a group of health research institutes together as one federated platform, with the governance, roles and shared ways of working that let them act as one without losing what makes each distinct.
International growth into South Asia
Set out the education, research and innovation strategy for a university's growth into one of the world's fastest-growing education regions, reading the market and the partnership options together.
How we work
Senior practitioners shape and deliver every engagement.
We take on a small number of engagements at any time. The people in the room at the start are the people in the room at the end: senior practitioners who have led institutions and shaped national policy from the inside. We design for the decade after the engagement, not the quarter after the report.
